Hi hi!
Last weekend I finally did the thing...
I got acrylic nails for the first time!! (๑*ᗜ*)
Since this was such a new and interesting experience,
a few suggested that I make a blog post about it,
especially for other newbies to it!
[Which i definitely am!]
My previous experience with nails has always been making my
own press-on nails!
But I started to realize that even though it was fun and therapeutic
to make my own nails, I really wanted
something more permanent!
I really love the freedom of being able to switch up my nails often and to have the ability to put on shorter nails or crazy OTT Harutamu nails!
Buuuut
taking the time to put them on or not having the time after I get ready.
[Since I used the sticky tabs, it usually takes approx. 20 mins]
first things first..

NAIL DAY!
~ My experience ~
I went to a salon about an hour north of my home.
The shop is ran by a solo nail artist with a few
other employees working there.
[They also provide other spa services!]
The inside was seriously so cute and clean and
had a very relaxed atmosphere!
(੭* ´꒳`*)੭* ੈ♡‧₊˚
I showed the nail tech a few photos of what I wanted and
we discussed sort of a combination!
But I also told her to add her own twist to it and to take artistic liberties!
My nails were extremely short since I am a nail biter! ( ;´Д`)
I was worried that it would affect how long my acrylics could be or if
she could even do them at all!
She told me that they were pretty short but she said that she could
give me a decent medium length still!
The whole process took about 2 hours total from start to finish;
which is what was estimated!
✿ BEFORE ✿
✿ AFTER ✿
It was a bit painful a couple times when my cuticles got nicked by accident.
I had a decent amount of dead skin on my cuticles
from the biting and irritation.
She apologized when it would happen and I didn't worry much because
I have a high pain tolerance, esp when its for something I really want.
But she did warn me that it may hurt because I had no nail bed.
(つд`)
Now mind you, I have had multiple other gals and others experienced
in acrylics tell me that it seems the tech went too harsh on my nails.
Many mentioned that I shouldn't have bled at all regardless
of how shallow my nail beds were or the condition of my cuticles.
**I do have to mention though that I was TERRIBLE at keeping
my hand relaxed and kept subconsciously kept pulling
away with any sort of pressure feeling**
When I would wear press-on nails, anytime I would feel any pressure,
I have the instinct to pull back or stop what
I'm doing so that nail doesn't pop off!
So I had a hard time relaxing overall.
If you are experienced with this though and you think this us common or
uncommon, I would love to know your thoughts!
The nail. tech was very impressed with my press-on sets I showed her and even encouraged me to become a nail tech!
She actually mentioned it multiple times and kept
insisting on me to take classes!
I found that very sweet and it made me really happy to know
that my art/work was approved by a professional and
that I could have the possibility to open up a new career path!
Usually "ART" related jobs. don't pay the bills but I did think more about the idea of having a job where I can be more expressive
and make people happy and feel fabulous!
After seeing her process, it looked VERY similar to
what I already do when I make my press-on nails!
While watching her I really realized this is something
I think I could do myself possibly and maybe should consider classes or practicing more!
** I am debating on opening some press-on nails for my current
press-on nail method and hope to get some more practice! **
Overall, my nails were a bit sore afterwards;
Not just from the cut cuticles but also the nail beds were a bit sore.
[I've been told by many the nail beds being a bit sore your first time is
normal bc your nail isn't used to the pressure and weight of the acrylic nail
being directly fused to your nail so tight]
All and all i really enjoyed my experience and will be going back
to her while I figure out how to do it on my own!
On my way home, I stopped at one of my favorite cupcake shops!
"New York Cupcakes"!
The interior of this store is seriously the cutest shop ever
in the world and they have my favorite
specialty cupcakes of ALL TIME!
I went a little overboard on the cupcakes..
I even got 3 Macaroons too www!
I also stopped at the Daiso near by and actually found a few
more of the Halloween Rilakkuma key chains!
I was bummed on getting dupes after finding out
the restocking forthese were a limited run.
So when I saw these, I got all three and even asked for the whole box!
Such a great find!!!
It TURNS OUT ALL 3 WERE ONES I DON'T HAVE YET!
Trip to Japanese Grocery store and other shops!
The next day I went out with one of my local friends
to the Japanese grocery store and a few other shops in
Downtown Seattle!
✧・゚:* OOTD *:・゚✧
Most of my GETS were legit groceries of just food that
we eat semi-regularily but here are some of the more notable items!
If you have any additional comments or questions about
my nails or even any advice, just reach out on Insta!

You guys have so many aesthetic places in Seattle it's insane wtf!! We have a few places like that but they're so far and few and usually kinda pricey to visit :(
ReplyDeleteYour nails turned out really pretty! I love them and they suit you so much.
You'd do great as a nail tech, please consider! Even though it's not like your "main" job, you'd be so successful!
ReplyDeleteWahhhh you go to so many beautiful places too!
